Tabaxi (Ta-backs-ie)

Tabaxi, also known as catfolk, are a humanoid race believed to be native to Runetalras. The tabaxi are considered among a minor race of Runetalras, with a population estimated to be as low as those of Aasimar and Genasi. The tabaxi, unlike most other humanoid races, have not strived to create kingdoms or empires, choosing instead to remain in small communities or cohabit within the towns and cities of other races. The tabaxi are believed to originate from the Wild Isles, although like many races, members of the species have spread across much of the known world.  

Description

The Tabaxi are a feline humanoid race, they are taller than most humans at six to seven feet. Their bodies are slender and covered in fur. Like most felines, Tabaxi have long tails and retractable claws. Tabaxi fur color ranges from light yellow to brownish red to ebon black, it can also have a wide variety of patterns. Tabaxi eyes have slit-pupils.  

Age and Maturity

Tabaxi give birth to young which are capable of walking, on four legs, after less than a week. Tabaxi reach full maturity at the age of 18, and live for about fifty years.  

Homelands

The Tabaxi have no great kingdoms or empires, instead they have small insular communities; these communities are most common within the Wild Isles, but can be found elsewhere throughout the known world.  

Society

The tabaxi built their society around clans. Their clans are led by an elder, with other positions of power being shaman and huntsmaster. The tabaxi typically prefer to trade and deal with other tabaxi clans, when necessary they do trade with the other races but they typically send agents in their place.

Tabaxi Traits

Ability Score Increase. When determining your character’s ability scores, increase one score by 2 and increase a different score by 1, or increase three different scores by 1. You can't raise any of your scores above 20.   Creature Type. You are a Humanoid.   Size. You are Medium or Small. You choose the size when you select this race.   Speed. Your walking speed is 30 feet, and you have a climbing speed equal to your walking speed.   Cat's Claws. You can use your claws to make unarmed strikes. When you hit with them, the strike deals 1d6 + your Strength modifier slashing damage, instead of the bludgeoning damage normal for an unarmed strike.   Cat's Talent. You have proficiency in the Perception and Stealth skills. Darkvision. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You discern colours in that darkness only as shades of grey.   Feline Agility. Your reflexes and agility allow you to move with a burst of speed. When you move on your turn in combat, you can double your speed until the end of the turn. Once you use this trait, you can’t use it again until you move 0 feet on one of your turns.   Languages. Your character can speak, read, and write Common and one other language that you and your DM agree is appropriate for the character. The Player’s Handbook offers a list of Languages to choose from. The DM is free to modify that list for a campaign.
