Woodfront

Woodfront is a small town under the control of Velfauna, known for its relative wealth despite its modest population. As part of the Free State of Velfauna, Woodfront has experienced its fair share of conflicts, particularly in relation to the ongoing dispute between Velfauna and the Elnurian Alliance regarding the logging of the Elnurian Forest. The conflicts were brought to an end by the Heroes of the Free States who were able to broker an agreement where the denizens of Elnurian Forest would provide Woodfront with timber felled in a sustainable manner.
Woodfront is nestled within a picturesque setting. It is strategically positioned at the edge of the Elnurian Forest, which stretches out with its dense canopy of towering trees and vibrant foliage. The town is blessed with natural beauty, surrounded by lush greenery and the serene ambiance of the forest.
The town itself is relatively small but exhibits an undeniable charm. Its layout follows a traditional design, with winding cobblestone streets that meander through the heart of the community. The buildings, constructed primarily from sturdy timber and local stone, exude a rustic yet inviting atmosphere.
Woodfront features a central marketplace, bustling with activity during the day as merchants and locals gather to trade goods and share stories. The market square is adorned with colourful stalls and awnings, offering a variety of fresh produce, artisanal crafts, and other wares. The vibrant atmosphere is heightened by the lively chatter and the scents of spices and freshly baked goods wafting through the air.
The town's architecture is reflective of its rich history, with buildings that exhibit a blend of traditional and contemporary styles. Some structures boast traditional timber frames and thatched roofs, while others have been influenced by newer architectural trends, featuring stone facades and intricately carved wooden embellishments. Despite the variations, there is a sense of cohesion that emanates from the town's overall aesthetic.

History

In the recent past, Woodfront was plagued by a series of unfortunate events that tested the limits of peace and stability in the region. The tensions escalated when the dryads, protectors of the forest, resorted to capturing loggers who were causing extensive damage to the trees in their pursuit of timber. In response, Velfauna dispatched a force of 100 men to retrieve the hostages, but the outcome proved disastrous. Most of the hostages lost their lives, while the remainder remained in the custody of the dryads. In the process, the dryads also suffered significant losses, with more than twenty casualties on their side.
The arrival of the Tee'Chaher further complicated the situation and added to the bloodshed. The discontent among the Velfauna troops grew, leading to a rebellion spearheaded by Set Wentford, who declared himself as the rightful owner of Woodfront due to the bloodshed suffered by his comrades. The town became embroiled in a cycle of violence, with each faction engaged in acts of aggression against one another.
However, amidst this turmoil, the Heroes of the Free States emerged as a beacon of hope for Woodfront. Their intervention aimed at bringing about peace and stability in the town. They successfully brokered a resolution with the Tee'Chaher, establishing a ceasefire and mitigating the bloodshed. Furthermore, they quelled the rebellion led by Set Wentford, firmly reestablishing the authority of Alexander Deltech as the Lord of Woodfront. The conflicts were brought to an end by the Heroes of the Free States who were able to broker an agreement where the denizens of Elnurian Forest would provide Woodfront with timber felled in a sustainable manner.

Following the intervention of the Heroes of the Free States, a sense of calm has gradually descended upon Woodfront. Though the scars of the past conflicts remain, the town now has an opportunity to rebuild and restore a semblance of normalcy. The focus has shifted towards healing wounds, reestablishing the flow of timber, and ensuring the continued prosperity of the town under the leadership of Alexander Deltech.
