Xoher's Trident

  This trident is a magic weapon that can also be used as a spellcasting focus. There is also the sense of an underlying sapience. Not enough to converse with, but enough to judge whomever wields it.
 

Fish Command (Level 1)

Xoher's Trident has three (3) Charges and regains 1d3 charges at dawn each day. As an action, expend 1 charge to cast Dominate Beast from it on a beast that has an innate swimming speed. The target automatically fails the saving throw if it's challenge rating is equal to or lower than the half the caster's level.  

Trident of Fathoms (Level 2)

Xoher's Trident has formed a pact with its wielder. As an action, you dismiss the trident, shunting it into an extradimensional space, or call the weapon, causing it to appear in your empty hand from wherever it may be. Additionally, the trident is augmented by one of the following Eldritch Invocations:
  • Eldritch Smite. Once per turn when you hit a creature with your pact weapon, you can expend a warlock spell slot to deal an extra 1d8 force damage to the target, plus another 1d8 per level of the spell slot, and you can knock the target prone if it is Huge or smaller. (You may instead expend one (1) stored charge as a 1st level spell slot.)
  • Improved Pact Weapon. The trident gains a +1 bonus to its attack and damage rolls made with it. While wielding the trident, you have a +1 to spell attack rolls.
  • Lifedrinker. When you hit a creature with the trident, the creature takes extra cold damage equal to your Intelligence modifier (minimum of 1). In addition, the first time you deal Cold damage with this invocation on each of your turns, you gain temporary hit points equal to the Cold damage dealt.
  • Thirsting Blade. You can attack with your pact weapon twice, instead of once, whenever you take the Attack action on your turn. Once per turn, when you hit a creature with this trident, you may use your reaction to expend a charge to command your Tentacle of the Deeps to make an attack against the same target provided it is within range.

  • As part of a long rest, you can meditate with the weapon to exchange one of these invocations with another.  

    Tickling Tentacles (Level 3)

    When you hit a creature with your Tentacle of the Deeps, you can choose to move the target 5 feet towards or away from the tentacle instead of reducing its speed. Additionally, the reach of your Tentacle of the Deeps is increased to 15 feet.
