Rhessian (ethnicity)

Rhessians are the descendants of Evhys, one of the first four men created by God. They claim to have colonised Sartaldia before the arrival of the other races and since they developed a complex civilisation before the others they have a tendency towards cultural posturing. This hasn’t endeared them towards the other races but their military strength and technology has enabled them to forego diplomacy at times. Religion is another great divide. Most Rhessians believe that God’s greatest servant, the Sun Dragon taught the demigod Evhys the secret of fire and that he made his skins tough and scaly so as to better handle it. This is in contrast to the Nascean narrative where Evhys betrayed God’s trust and stole the dragon’s flames against his wish thus being punished with scaly skin. As such Rhessians like to compare themselves to dragons which conflicts with the popular dragon-slaying image of the Nascea among mammalian races.
