Naddie's Apteker

Naddie's Apteker, or Naddie's Apothecary Journal, is a collection of spells, potions, and folk remedies that Naddie Suslova, the owner of Ketterpesh Apothecary, has discovered over her 198 years of life. More recent additions come in the form of accompanying drawings by Naddie's little half-orc apprentice, Kezia.

Deciphering

Although initially written in Gnome, when Nadia took on Kezia as an apprentice, she annotated the journal so that it is also understandable in Half-orc. Since then she has continued to translate the journal into every other language that she knows (apart from Common because that would be boring). The journal now contains a mishmash of 15 different languages, such that it requires a DC30 Linguistics check to decipher the contents. The DC is lowered by 2, for each language after the first one that the decoder knows (so, for example, the DC would be 26 for someone who spoke Elven, Half-orc and Halfling). Someone with no ranks in Linguistics, or who knows none of the languages the journal is written in, automatically fails any attempts to read the journal.

Alchemical Infusions (DC30)

I have picked up several alchemical formulae in my travels. Not all of them are useful to me personally, being far outside my own skillset, but perhaps one day I will have acquired the achemical knowledge to create these healing remedies.

Herbological Health in Nature (DC35)

Alchemical infusions can be tricky and time consuming to prepare. However, in my long life I have discovered that some ordinary plants have healing properties of their own! Isn't nature marvelous?

Chesnok: Chesnok can be chewed to help fortify the body against cold effects, and cold-related diseases. Chewing a clove of Chesnok grants a +1 bonus on saves against cold and cold-related diseases for one hour.

Helpful Healing Potions (DC40)

Duraks in the big cities don't know the first thing about the common medicines they use and sell. I have discovered that their disease and poison medicine would be far more potent if used with Aunt Naddie's special flair!

Antiplague: Provides information on uses of disease medicine that takes about an hour to read if translated correctly. If the reader reads this section and succeeds on a DC10 heal check, they gain a new ability. While Antiplague can normally be used to grant a +2 bonus to caster level when casting Remove Disease, that bonus permanently increases to +4 for the successful reader.
Antitoxin: Provides information on uses of poison medicine that takes about an hour to read if translated correctly. If the reader reads this section and succeeds on a DC10 heal check, they gain a new ability. While Antitoxin can normally be used to grant a +2 bonus to caster level when casting Neutralise Poison, that bonus permanently increases to +4 for the successful reader.

Theoretical healing magic (DC50)

Although I have never been successful in my metamagical experimentations, I include this theoretical magic that might one day be inside my grasp. I know it is possible because there are some greater than I that I have seen performing the feat of skill. Hopefully one day I will master it.

Contingent Spell: A theoretical outline of how a person might go about delaying a cure until it is useful to the patient. These notes, if translated correctly, inspire the starting point for an investigation into the arts of contingent spells. The reader must spend 5 days studying the notes, without any further strenuous activity (as with the Pathfinder rules for retraining feats). At the end of the 5 days the reader makes a Knowledge (Arcana) DC20 check. If they are successful, they learn the Contingent Spell metamagic feat as a bonus feat, without having to sacrifice any of their other feats or abilities.
