Samobranka Tablecloth
The Samobranka Tablecloth is a tablecloth that fills with food as you lay it out, and cleans itself up when you roll it away. It can produce nourishing, simple fare sufficient to feed up to 36 people per day upon command. Once per week it can also be commanded to create a heroes’ feast for up to 12 people. The blanket needs neither fire nor ingredients to produce food; it does so instantly upon command.
The Ritual of the Samobranka Tablecloth
The Samobranka Tablecloth must be treated with care, for it has feelings that are easily hurt. Therefore, the following three rules must be observed in order to keep the tablecloth happy and working:- Treat the tablecloth with gratitude: Thank the tablecloth after each meal. Neglect or ingratitude can result in salty dishes or salt in tea, burnt pancakes, bad cooking of all kinds, misinterpreted orders or foul versions of recipes.
- Clean up all spills: Spilling on the tablecloth will be treated as a slight, and must be remedied immediately. The tablecloth itself will be more than happy to provide cleaning advice if asked.
- Mend any damage: As well as just being generally discourtious to leave holes in the tablecloth, any unrepaired damage to the tablecloth will weaken its magical potential. If the damage is not repaired within 1d2 days, the tablecloth uses all magical ability and becomes a regular tablecloth.
An enchanted white blanket,
And whenever you wish it,
This blanket will serve you,
With food and with vodka:
You need but say softly,
'O blanket enchanted,
Give food to the peasants!'
At once, at your bidding,
Through my intercession
The blanket will serve you.
