Pre-Seeding

In a time long ago, an age now known as the, Whimsy of the Gods (90,000 PreSeeding - 4,5000 PreSeeding), when Rüt was a small planet with a single connected continent and the gods lived and thrived not only on their home plane of The Great Arboretum but also enjoyed the lush life of the material plane. The gods were a fun loving bunch of magical beings, all powerful and each with their own ability to create within their domain as they saw fit. However one day Hextor, decided he wanted to be the sole god of war and not share that title with his brother, Erythnul. So he proposed a game of ”Gambit of Ord” to decide who would be the god of war once and for all. Erythnul, enjoying competition, accepted the bet, against the objections of his siblings, and so the game was on and the dice came out. Hextor lost but was convinced that he had been cheated by Erythnul. In order to get even with Erythnul, Hextor unleashed The Destroyer's Flood. The world was covered in water sending many of the gods into hiding in The Great Arboretum. Those that didn’t hide or bow to Hextor died in the slaughtering known as the God Wars or Sh’Sl’Kar. With most of the gods in hiding, Hextor appointed himself ruler of Rüt, his first order of business was to eliminate Erythnul and his allies. Once he killed Erythnul, he hunted down any known allies and killed them as well. Once they were all eliminated or had disappeared into the far reaches of the world their were no other gods strong enough on their own to oppose hextor, and any talk of rebellion was met with the punishment of death. Hextor ruled over the newly formed water world with an iron fist, destroying any god that had the audacity to oppose him. This time period is known as the Dominance of Hextor, a time period running from 4,500 PreSeeding to 0 GreatSeeding.
The Great Seeding (0 GreatSeeding) The Triquetra, Was a resistance made up of three gods - Ehlonna, Pelor, and Obad-Hai attempted to plant 12 seeds into the core of Rüt and infuse it with their magicks to return the land masses and bring life back to the planet., Hextor went after Obad-hai first killing him and in his death he flung three of the seeds into space, this created the three moons that orbit Rüt. However, Ehlonna and Pelor were able to plant the 9 other seeds bringing the beginnings of life back to Rüt. But without the power of the Triquetra they could not complete the ritual and both Ehlonna and Pelor consumed by the magic and with their last remaining energy were able to transfer their essences to the current suns that orbit Rüt. A side effect of the creation of the suns and the creation of light was that it was able to push back against the darkness controlled by Hextor. The gods, seeing the bravery and sacrifice of the Triquetra, began to emerge from their hiding and fight back against the forces of darkness and Hextor. After a long battle the gods worked together and were able to banish Hextor from this world and all known planes of existence.
This sacrifice by the Triquetra allowed growth of the continental tree rut system to happen for millions of years before the canopies become populated with life above and below the treetop. One unintended and unforeseen side effect of the Great Seeding was the amount of power required in banishing Hextor. The loss of the gods powers following Sh’Sl’Kar or the God Wars was devastating to the gods, as they had expected to be able to watch, manipulate, and tend to the seedlings as the grew. The gods found they could no longer create life and alter the Weave at will as they could before The Great Seeding. Thus leaving them unable to bend this new world and creation to their will as they had before Hextor.
Another side effect of the seeding was the creation of new sentient species in the planes.. First the dragons, the most powerful of the new species of beings to inhabit Rüt came to the land. Then the elves, the dwarves, and the humans, the oldest of the species of humankind. The magic infused into the 12 Seedlings and planted in the Great Seeding spread as the Continental Rüt System grew and continued to spring forth new life. Even extending into other planes such as the elemental planes to create the genasi, then from the other planes to create celestials, devils, demons, djinn, and other Magical beings. The last beings born into existence were orcs, halflings, gnomes, trolls, tabaxi, lizardfolk, triton, turtles, Dragonborn, goblinoids, firbolg, yuan-ti, and all the other races and creatures we find on Rüt today.
