Purpleheart Trees
Purpleheart Trees are an uncommon variety of trees found exclusively in Reshnia and Merenia. They get their name from the color of their Wood, as it becomes a rich purple color if exposed to light for several weeks.
Basic Information
Genetics and Reproduction
Unlike many trees, purpleheart trees can reproduce via apomixis (a form of asexual reproduction) if a suitable mate is not close enough to pollinate it.
Growth Rate & Stages
A purpleheart tree takes between 40-50 years to reach full size.
Ecology and Habitats
Purpleheart trees are best suited for warmer climates, however they are very hardy and can last in any biome that warms up to at least the melting point between the 5th and 8th months.
Biological Cycle
Purpleheart trees shed their leaves without fail in the 11th month and regrow them during the 4th month, even when they are in biomes that suit their perfect growth temperature all year.
Additional Information
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
As it is a tree, it is incapable of perceiving the world around it in the same way as sentient creatures. Like all plants, however, it is naturally attuned to nature, allowing it to know when the nature around it is being affected.
Lifespan
A purpleheart tree can live for hundreds of years, reaching an average of 300.
Average Height
100-160 feet.
Average Length
5 feet.
