History
In the early days of the world, sea-faring Elven explorers came upon the wreckage of a ship that had thought to have been lost weeks earlier. As they sailed closer to the spot, wondering what could possibly have done such critical damage the vessel, they began to see peculiarities in its destruction: claw marks and large cracks where something large had clearly impacted the ship with tremendous force. As the exploring vessel rounded a particularly large chunk of the shipwreck, they spotted a stony outcropping, and on it lay a beast unlike anything they had ever seen.
A large fish-like body with two fins running down its spine; four powerful legs that ended in webbed, four-toed, clawed feet; a long, thin tail that resembled that of a shark was lightly curled so that it did not touch the ground; a head that closely resembled that of a predatory cat; all covered in scales the beautiful, brilliant color of well-polished steel.
The creature looked at them with intense black eyes with yellow, feline slits; like two obsidian orbs with a singular vein of gold in each one. It let out a low growl, then a snarling-roar, warding off the explorers. They dubbed it Lionaokekai: High Predator of All Seas, for there and then the surmised that there was no such creature in all the world who would dare take on this predator.
Though it is now beyond the borders of the Ever-lasting Kingdom's domain, the elves still hold this creature in high regard. This respect spread to the local population of humans and immigrant elves, and the Lionaokekai eventually became the national symbol for the kingdom of Psydonia.
