Blade Hound
Appearance
They are called (Bladed one) due to the long, sharp bony protrusions that often grow on their face, shoulders and tail. These blades are used for defense and to attract mates. They have short sleek fur that is usually brown, tan, grey or black. There is solid, saddled and ticked fur color patterns. Sometimes pointed coloring. They usually have amber, brown, or hazel eyes. Pups are born with blue eyes and pink noses and pads. They have lithe bodies and long legs. They have a narrow head and tall pointed ears. The fur around their neck is longer than other places on their body.
Social
Blade hounds are a shy species that often dwell within ruins. They do not like the company of people and are often found alone or with a small family pack. They are close cousins to the Siren Harrow and occasionally can be found roaming together. A mated pair will have between 1-3 pups and when the pups come to age that they can learn how to hunt the male will leave the family. The pups will hang with the female until they come to age then they will leave to find their own mates and have pups.
Domestication & Uses
The domestic version of the Blade Hound is called the Elf hound. They share many features of the blade hound, except they do not have the large protruding blades. The Elf Hound is bred for its body type and fur and tall ears, but the bladed trait is bred out of females and on males the bladed traits is only enough to show a distinguish between the two. The colors of the fur is often sought out for light tans and greys and sometimes whites for the females and darker browns, greys and blacks for the males. Many seek for solid color coats and blue eyes and pink noses.
Region
They are often found in the southern regions where the climate is warmer and winters are mild. Thrive well in the desert, grasslands, and coastline.
Diet
Carnivores - eats primarily small rodents and birds. When with a pack they will sometimes take down larger pray like small species of venison.
