Silence

War and Famine can do a lot of things to the people. Drive them mad, hostile and even away from places they called home. This is all things one has to get used to living in a world riddled with monsters, but there's always one thing they don't teach you. The silence that follows afterwards.
Once busy streets, bustling with trade and chatter, friends reuniting after a long week away, parents telling their children that they'll get sweets the next time they come to the markets... All of it lost, and those same streets, barren and dark... Not even the small critters scurry across the cobbles, everything you had come to know... empty.
Nobody told us that silence could be this deafening. To hear ones blood pumping, the soft scuff of your leather shoes, and the slightest breath you take... but that's it, nothing else.
All you know, is that you are incredibly alone... and the maddening thoughts have begun to set in.
