Amanita
Basic Information
Anatomy
Amanita are bipedal humanoids with strong and squat bodies supported by their thick legs with vestigial toes. Each amanita has at least two arms that ends with a two fingers and a thumb. While the amanita bodies are tough they are not known for being skilled fighters. Amanita do not stop growing until they they die with sporlings reaching a few feet and titans growing to twelve feet tall.
Genetics and Reproduction
The amanita use spores to reproduce with young cultivated in gardens to become sporlings. These young are raised communally in groupings called farms.
Growth Rate & Stages
Of the hundreds of spores the amanita produce every day less than a dozen will grow to become full amanita. After the amanita foster these spores for a year or so a sporling will arise as an intelligent amanita. After four more years the red cap of a amanita will begin to show spots and the amanita will be recognized as fully grown.
Ecology and Habitats
Amanita dislike direct sunlight as it sickens them. Amanita thrive in the moist darkness of old of forests where canopies of trees create a perpetual twilight or the darkness of Sadin'Zurah. The amanita shelter in damp marshes and springs, surrounded by moss and lesser mushrooms which they cultivate for food and grow for use as building materials.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Amanita are herbivorous with a diet mainly of mushrooms. The amanita are known for luring other species to their death to feed their mushroom gardens.
Biological Cycle
After five years the the amanita will develop the signature red cap and white spots that the species is known for and begin to product spores.
Additional Information
Social Structure
Amanita grow together in communal farms with leadership left to the tallest of their species.
Facial characteristics
Amanita have on average two eyes though as they grow larger they will grow more eyes.
Geographic Origin and Distribution
Amanita can be found through out Sadin'Zurah and Neo Verge as well as remote forests.
Average Intelligence
Amanita are below average when it comes to most sentient species in all aspects except farming.
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Raised in the isolated depths of Sadin'Zurah, all amanita have limited ability to see in the dark. The amanita can see in dim light within sixty feet as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. Amanita cannot discern color only shades of gray.
Symbiotic and Parasitic organisms
Amanita encourage the growth of mushrooms naturally along with their similar ecology.
Civilization and Culture
Naming Traditions
Amanita speak a patois of elvish and take names borrowing from the world around them. Often the amanita will be named after the first thing they see once they have reached maturity or for something important to them.
Common Dress Code
Amanita do not wear clothing.
History
It is unknown where the amanita first came from, the species itself having no need for history. Many guess Guyre had attempted to create a species to manage his forgotten forests. While the species is short lived it's specialty in quick expansion has allowed the amanita to spread across all the places the sun does not deign to touch.
