Boartoad Skin

Properties

Material Characteristics

Long after it has been harvested from the Boartoad the material still glistens with a subtle slickness, if properly cared for will continue to shine for years. Boartoad skin often looks and feels like damp leather.

Physical & Chemical Properties

Boartoad leather is slick and is highly resistant to water making the material incredibly popular across the world in any location that is damp or prone to rain.

Geology & Geography

Boartoad's are one of the most widely distributed land mammal on the planet as its native range extends across severl continents and has been introduced with mixed results in a number of other countries and continents.

Life & Expiration

If given proper maintenance and some alchemical preservatives specific for maintaining the leather's unique properties a set of Boartoad leather cloths will last three to four years before the skin dries out and loses much of its water resistance.

History & Usage

Everyday use

Boartoad skin is often used as a leather or hide depending on the need. While it is possible to eat boartoad only those with little to no money will eat boartoad willingly.

Manufacturing & Products

Boartoad leather is used to craft most coats as well as weather resistant cloaks and wrappings. While it can be crafted into a hide or leather armor the material is somewhat less tougher than most other leathers and attempts to domesticate the boartoad have only come with moderate success as the domesticate beasts grow significantly smaller than their wild cousins. Alchemists have found if the boartoad hide is properly altered with the right infusions the leather can retain a measure of the animal's stealth as the skin will blend in with it's surrounding environment.
