Crown Guard of Veterzemlya [WASC2020]

Composition

Manpower

The crown guard of Veterzemlya contains the 64 most elite soldiers in the kingdoms Veterzemlya. They are primarily cavalry horsemen that have been cross trained in hand-to-hand combat, and swordsmanship. Some are excellent archers.

Equipment

The equipment of the crown guard of Veterzemlya is the most advanced available during this cause I made evil technologically based kingdom. While their formal uniforms are mostly ceremonial, and they perform as a color guard at the Royal functions, they do have travel gear for when they escort the royal family.
They are primarily a cavalry based military unit. As they use their horses to surround the royal carriages and protect it from ambush.

Weaponry

the weapons preferred by the crown guard includes Pole arms when mounted on their steads. They use Swords and Shields in case they are dismounted or the assignment does not allow for horses to be used.
They are primarily any weapon that is effective on the use on the back of a horse.

Vehicles

the primary transportation for the crowns guard our horses. They do maintain a small fleet of carriages to carry miscellaneous supplies as needed by the mission.

Structure

the command structure of the crown guard is led by a council of the crown guard. This counsel is made up of one member from each of the tribes that form the territory kingdom of Veterzemlya. This counsel forms a group of equals, however the most senior of the Council serves as the primary representative to the king and and leads the meetings of the Council.
Not all 64 of the soldiers are used at each time. There are at all times 16 members of the crown guard that serve in rotation to protect the czar, the Czarina, and other direct blood relatives of the royal family. (Other members of extended family are protected by the common core of the Army. )
Depending on the need of the various missions or travel delegations the remaining members of the crown guard are sent to ensure the safety during travel.

Tactics

members of the crown guard are the most trained and versatile soldiers that are found in Veterzemlya. They have proven themselves capable in hand-to-hand combat and and other feats of strength. They must be excellent horsemen as their primary responsibility is escorting the royal family. There may be exceptions to the horsemanship rules if the soldier is an excellent marksman with the longbow. These marksman will be those who ride on the carriages themselves scanning as lookouts and being the first line of defense for those who may be out of melee range or range of the pole arms of the mounted cavalry.

Training

to become a member of the crown guard, a soldier must complete extensive training throughout their life. The journey to becoming a member of the crowns guard begins amongst the regular ranks of the soldiers of the cavalry and of the archery. Those who use show exceptional skill in one of these three areas are recommended by their leaders to attempt the cross training required to be a, member of the crown guard. The training is grueling and extensive to ensure that only the best protect the royal family. It is a great honor to be selected to even train for the crown guard and even failure to become a member of the crown guard is is not a reason to feel shame but a reason to celebrate as being considered one to be worthy enough to join the elite guard.

Logistics

Logistical Support

many members of the regular cavalry archery and foot soldiers are used to support the crown guard. Each member of the crown guard has four squires, one from each of the three disciplines, and one stewards . The stewards tends to generic health needs such as cooking cleaning comfort etc. each of these squires are meant to help ensure that the guard has the proper equipment and weaponry and anything that they may need for one of their travels. To be a squire of the crown guard is an honor for our regular soldier and also seen as a short list for those who could become future members of the crown guard.
Squires are only kept for a year or two and then returned back to the regular troops, but often as leaders of patrols and seen as leaders to help train others.

Auxilia

as needed members or patrols of the crown guard may be able to call upon divisions or groups from the other standing army archery or cavalry to assist under their jurisdiction or command. This is an honor for those who are chosen to serve with the crown guard those who impress the crown guard members are more likely to be picked as future squires.

Upkeep

The upkeep of the crown guard is the responsibility of the stewards of the czar's palace. The this steward is in charge of all of the stewards assigned to each of the members of the crown guard. The individual stewards relays the needs of the member to the chief steward and then the chief steward assigns responsibilities to other members of their staff to ensure all the needs of the crown guard are met.

Recruitment

the recruitment process to join the crown guard is based on merit and abilities through rigorous training. Members of the standing army cavalry and archery are able to be nominated by their leaders to serve on special missions with the crown guard, to serve as stewards or squires to individual crown guard members, then have leadership roles back in the regular army after their term of service has been completed, and then if they excel at all of these different positions they are then nominated for the cross training portion of crown guard preparations.

History

These soldiers are selected from the different tribes that have come together to form the coalition of Veterzemlya. When the tribes formed the treaty that first brought them together, the the Chiefs of the different tribes brought forth their most experienced soldiers. These soldiers were the first to swear their loyalty to whomever the czar chosen by the Chiefs would be.

Historical loyalties

the loyalty of the crown guard of Veterzemlya has always been to the czar of Veterzemlya because the group was first formed when the first czar was established to rule over the tribes of the steps of Veterzemlya and the new piece that was brokered in at the time.
