Malen's Christmas Traditions

Malen, of course, takes part in the Penguin Waddles. Having children ages 13 to 19 play with penguins for multiple days is one of the joys of the year for faculty and staff. Likewise, students watching their professors and other adults bring out their childhood side with the penguins cracks them up. But Malen also brings its unique flavour to these penguin days. Following is a list of events:

Penguin races -- may the fastest penguin win the race across the Grand Hall, the Guin pool, or in the Grand Penguin Triathlon.
Cute Penguin Extravaganza -- everyone brings a cute penguin, and there is a competition for which penguin will win
The Magic Penguins -- a group of talent show performers who come to Malen each year to put on a penguin magic show--occasionally, members of the audience are even invited to participate
Penguin Trivia -- how much do you know about penguins?
Pick a Penguin -- pick a penguin to care for over the next few days, if you do not have your own penguin pet
Penguin Preparatory--invite your penguins to a night of penguin school! Take part in their kinship selection, take them to different courses (such as icicle eating, swimming, and art), send them to explore the grounds, and top off the night with ballroom dancing and the American film showing of Mr. Plopper's Penguins!

Execution

Everyone gathers in the Grand Hall to officially mark the commencement of the Malen and Kwazi Christmas traditions. As the students arrive one-by-one, they are each given a small Christmas cracker decorated on the outside with their Season and kinship as well as a candle that will be unanimously lit later in the night.

Participants

All students, faculty, and staff of Malen attend. Some students' families come to celebrate during the upcoming weeks, especially if younger siblings are considering attending Malen Arts when they turn 13.
