Every world has its legends. Stories that are passed down and twisted around until none know what, if anything, was true. These stories get ingrained in culture, are so well known that people are unsure where they first came from. All we have are the results of this long line of telling and retelling. Who knows what may be true...
The leader was named Kusal, and chose the winds to temper her sisters' endeavors. Next was Giran, strong in force, who chose to master the might of the earth. Rurik was spirited and energetic, and chose to take on the wild fires. Mared, quiet and contemplative, chose the silent waters as her field to master.
For Kusal, she flew into the sky, to a place so high that only air was seen all around. She trained in flight, in the manipulation of air so powerful, it rivaled that of a Kin's.
Giran studied the makeups of her earths, learned to make the most fertile farms in the land and the strongest fortresses on top of it.
Lively Rurik danced through forests of flame, governing the blazes to go where she wished, shape as she desired, consume only as instructed.
Into the depths lept Mared in a great pocket of air, maintaining her breath while she learned to manipulate the waters surrounding her.
At the conclusion of two hundred Balur, the sisters came back together once again. They rejoiced in their newfound knowledge, and resolved to teaching the rest of their country of their skills. So it was that they built the great elemental ring, a large patch of ground bordered half with earth and half with water, a place for all Elems to master their powers.

The Four Sisters

When they emerged, they found themselves to have all been bestowed the same gift, that of the ability to manipulate the elements. As these sisters had spent their lives persistent in their ways, they decided to so dedicate themselves to the study of their newfound abilities such as to attain mastery of them far surpassing the skills of any who had come before. The leader was named Kusal, and chose the winds to temper her sisters' endeavors. The Mad Emperor
There once was an emperor of the Kirden Empire named Dilurur. He had no parents, and his father's brother, who had taken the job of caring for him, always thought him below his respect. Dilurur learned from him to take the respect he wanted, or else be ridiculed. So it was that when he became emperor, he payed little heed to his citizens and advisors, and instead sought to further his own power. He started with animals, seeing how far and well he could communicate with creatures. He tried eating large portions of Dalur, seeing if he could use extra power to control thoughts. He eventually gave up on animals and moved on to human subjects, seeing if he could subtely manipulate his advisors. He determined that his power was too little, and he needed more in order to rule and conquer as he dreamed. Against the will of his advisors, he set back out to the Cave of Change. No one followed, for entering the cave again was forbidden. A week later, a girl came back from her transformation with tale of a horrible sight. She had seen next to the pillar of the Artifact a half dissintegrated body of a man in flowing red robes. His eyes were covered in a white film, and transparent wings protruded from his back into a half-formed yellow chrysalis. The girl was a Com, and was crowned empress the next day.
