The Kirden Empire (k-UR-d-eh-n)
The Kirden Empire rules most of Salkur, and is largely centralized in Eastern Salkur.
Government
The Kirden Empire is led by an emperor. Rather than having their identity determined by genealogy, the emperor is chosen by the molding. They meet regularly with their council, made up of the leaders of each of the departments.
Department of Science
The Department of Science manages research and progress in the Kirden Empire. One of its main topics of research is into the special forms of light which can be accessed by Lums. It has historically been led most frequently by a Lum.Department of Food
The Department of Food deals with the management of farms, Balur and Dalur regulation, and all other consumption related issues in the Empire. It has historically been led most frequently led by an Elem.Department of Quality Living
The Department of Quality Living deals with internal issues in the main Kirden Empire. This ranges from finding living accomodations for those with monetary insecurities, to running courts. It has historically been most frequently led by a Kin.Department of Education
The Department of Education makes sure that all children in the Kirden Empire get the education and attention they require until their Molding. It has historically been most frequently led by a Sight.Department of Heritage
The Department of Heritage manages historical records for everything of import in the Kirden Empire. This includes the history of the Empire and the greater world of Salkur, as well as items such as the Chants' Tomes. It has historically been most frequently led by a Chant.Department of International Affairs
The Department of International Affairs manages relations with the outlying villages of Salkur. They assure quality of life and provide protection against the mysterious forces of the Birren and Sonri. It has historically been most frequently led by a Morph.Department of Festivities
The Department of Festivities deals with special events in the Kirden Empire, from heritage celebrations to the festivities surrounding the arrival of a new emperor.Dynasties
In the Kirden Empire, the legacies of emperors are split into dyansties. A dynasty is started when an emperor rules in a way which is dissimilar to the ways in which all previous emperors have ruled. The new dynasty is named after them, and future emperors who rule in the same manner are associated with that dynasty.Attire
Common attire in the Kirden Empire for girls is a kimono, and for boys is a suit. These outfits are standard for formal occasions, travel, and meeting with important people. More casual wear, usually only worn in private or around others whom one is very comfortable with, involves sweatshirts and sweatpants.
Culture
The most important thing for a citizen of the Kirden Empire is respect. It is seen as a great offense to show disrespect to someone. This significance of respect also applies to animals and everyday objects, for example, it is common practice to avoid stepping on clothes, out of respect for the protection they provide. Someone is seen as an honorable individual if they are able to show great restraint and respect towards all things, even those which they don't like.
