Salthan

Salthans (or Kasanai) are a reptilian sentient species with proportions similar to that of Humans.
Anatomy of Salthans

Basic Information

Anatomy

Salthans stand upright, and have four limbs; two legs and two arms. They have elongated nose and mouth, (sometimes called a "beak" or "snout"). This is generally longer on males than females.   They have a tail that extends from the base of their spine.   Males have a row of spikes on their head.   Being non-Mammalian, females do not have mammary glands, and their upper torsos are generally identical to that of male of their species. They do have larger hips than males. Salthans do no have nipples or a navel. The average adult Salthan stands at about 5'6", and the average female is around 5'4".

Genetics and Reproduction

Salthan genitalia is actually similar to that of a human (despite rumors of Salthans have hemipenises)[Unverified], and reproduction is through the same method. Salthans lay eggs that they hatch.

Growth Rate & Stages

Salthans start life at the same size as humans and grow at about the same rate. At puberty, at around 8 to 12, a boy will begin to grow spikes on his head that grow to be around 2-3 inches at adulthood before growing.   The "beak" of a prepubescent Salthan is around only 1/4 the size of their head, but at puberty will begin to grow more in the proportion of their head, growing to be about as long as half the size of their head.

Ecology and Habitats

Salthans prefer the warm environment of the desert, as long as they also have a place they can find shade periodically. Attempts of Salthans immigrating to other climate types, particularly ones that can get very cold in the winter has not gone well for them.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Salthans are omnivorous and will eat just about any type of food that a human will eat. However, they are naturally lactose intolerant, and so avoids dairy products such as milk and cheese.
