Gilded Hills
A rolling terrain of thousands of dome-shaped hills, each one between 98 to 164 feet tall. Each mound is covered in grasses and brush that turns golden-brown in the fall, hence its name.
Fauna & Flora
Wild goats and the occasional hog can be found scampering around under the trees.
Natural Resources
The dense brown stone of the Monastery of the Change Bringer matches the stone found in the Gilded Hills, however, it is unknown what technology was used to mine such a large amount of dense stone at once.
The soil is extremely rocky, thus few plants can grow here but wild grasses and trees, making wood the most abundant resource in this region.
History
The Temple of Avandra is rumored to be disguised as one of the many Gilded Hills.
In their few instances of war, Panalans have used the Gilded Hills as outposts to defend against invaders.
Tourism
Because of their high vantage point, bandits often camp on top of the hills, attacking travelers when they pass below. Some locals attribute this as the second reason for the name "Gilded Hills".
In any case, it is often best to avoid narrow passes between hills.
