The Great Calamity

Summary

The Great Calamity describes the near world-ending war between Bahamut, the Platinum Dragon and the Prime Deities, Avandra, the Change Bringer, Erathis, the Law Bearer, and The Raven Queen, Matron of Death, versus Tiamat, Mother of All Evil and the Betrayer Gods, Asmodeus, the Lord of the Nine Hells, Bane, the Strife Emperor, and Zehir, the Cloaked Serpent. Joining both sides were armies of Wishmakers (dragons), mankind, devils, beasts, monsters, and fey. The event is said to have brought about the extinction of Wishmakers.

Historical Basis

No humanoid-like written records or archaeological finds are dated before Year 0, and little history is known before and shortly following the Great Calamity. Dragons are believed to have roamed the skies once, given the number of dragon fossils found throughout the land. What is known of the Great Calamity today is only through religious texts, oral tradition, and religious observances.

Variations & Mutation

Each of the Prime Deities has their own legend of victory over a Betrayer God: Avandra over Asmodeus, Erathis over Bane, and the Raven Queen over Zehir. These legends celebrated during religious observances.
