The Raven's Prey

In a world plagued with starvation and disease, those in the Raven's Prey take comfort in the certainty of death and the absolute power of its matron: The Raven Queen.

Structure

The Raven's Prey is more of a philosophy one adopts than an organization one joins. All members act independently according to how they perceive the Raven Queen's will. Individual leaders may arise in local regions to preach the word and encourage others to act. When overconfident leaders meet, disagreements may arise in how to uphold the Raven Queen's order.

Culture

Most members are nihilists at heart, and many come into the Prey without purpose or direction in life. Yet, with complete acceptance of the end and total trust in the path of Fate, they are often eerily positive and hedonistic. Some members are kind local leaders who reassure and comfort the suffering, others are obsessive youths who stalk adventurers, ensuring the inevitable death they bring is just and sanct.   In any case, it is often difficult to tell who is and isn't part of the Prey without them volunteering the information.

Public Agenda

The Raven's Prey seek to assist the Raven Queen in her godly duties of death, whether by performing funeral ceremonies to protect the curse of undeath, or crucifying necomancers.

Tenets of Faith

  • Death is the natural end of life. We rejoice those who escape the suffering of mortal living.
  • The path of Fate is sacrosanct. Those who pridefully attempt to cast off their destiny must be corrected or meet death sooner: lest they bring ruin to the natural fates of others.
  • Undeath is an atrocity. Those who would pervert the transition of the spirit must be destroyed by any means necessary.

Political Influence & Intrigue

The general public pays little heed to the Raven's Prey. Those who know of their existence typically dismiss it as nothing more than teenage angst or local nutjobs. World leaders may keep close watch on their nearest Prey "chapter", should their or their enemies' ambition let them become the target of the Prey's wrath.

Fate wills it.
