Kaukushi Sitalla
General introduction
At the base station of the Cable car of Valtaps Shetan is a settlement, that came into existence a while after the establishment of the cable car. Before, people who came to collect goods from the terraces came as individuals with baskets or pots or with small trade carts they parked at the foot of the Valtaps Shetan. The cable car facilitated transportation of bigger amounts of goods in a shorter time. It also made climbing the terraces obsolete. In turn, people started to frequent only the base station, so eventually some services and infrastructure was established, to cater to their needs. With the service personell, there came a demand for housing. This dynamic development was, what started Kaukushi Sitalla (Lower Tradepost in the Sanad Kankunz Takoris' language).
Function
After its humble beginnings with only a small guest house, some tables and stores for ware distribution and toilet facilities, the people working there began to make their presence in the camp more comfortable by building proper permanent living quarters. Eventually Kaukushi Sitalla grew not only to be a mere distribution point for wares, but a small settlement that could sustain itself and could process the harvested goods from the terraces. This diversified the terraces agriculture, since now also more perishable goods could be grown and made more long-living by processing.
Now Kaukushi Sitalla is, beside a distribution point for wares also an important location for the food processing industry. This also contains wares, that are not harvested from the terraces, like dairy products, as those might be used for the production of certain baked goods, meat for dried stock of a variety of goods and certain packaging materials, which are often won from plants or mushrooms, like neredrek leather bags.
History
The establishment of the cable car and thus the forming of Kaukushi Sitalla happened during the late Era of the Trees, although the Valtaps Shetan have been used for a far longer time in a more extensive way. Since then, Kaukushi Sitalla had a growth spurt once during its very early existence and then again at the middle of the Era of the Earth. It had been growing constantly at a slow pace all the time, but the Great Scorching took a toll even on the cultures and peoples in the cave-tinents, so it took some time after this event for the settlement to take off again.
It was with the second growth spurt, that new goods and wares started to be processed and traded in Kaukushi Sitalla. Since then the growth has slowed down considerably again, with the place being sufficiently effective as it is.
