Forgotten Waystation
This site once saw all of the trade from the Unders. But no more. Where once bustling business once took place, now only quiet empty buildings. Hollowed out of purpose and decayed by time. Free of the elements of weather, some things are remarkably well preserved. But something has been here. There are signs of scratches on the doorframes and broken things scattered haphazardly inside the buildings.
History
This was once the final stop for any goods, ores, or gemstones that had been plundered from deeper within the crust of Cygnaria. The last leg of the journey would be done by pack animals from here, but things from deeper below would be brought up by minecart.
When the Unders were overrun this waystation was abandoned when the Undersgate was locked. It has remained uninhabited, by the people of Sanctuary, since that time. But what evil lurks in it now has yet to be divined.
Points of interest
The nearby bottomless pit has been turned into a sort of business, that is long since abandoned. When minecarts would come up from below they would have all manner of things in them. Some measure of rock and detritus along with the minerals or gems that are so sought after. But carrying all that weight for the journey back to Sanctuary was tiresome and expensive. If you could cut down on the extra stuff it would save a great deal of time and money in transport. Fewer porters need to be hired and more valuables brought. But just leaving the rock and slag would build up and become an impediment to business. Instead, people would pay to throw things into the bottomless pit. A disposal service if you will. Well worth the money for the time and effort saved by taking only what is most valuable.
