Rockseer Elves

An exceedingly rare kind of elf, the Rockseer Elves are as native to stalactites and stalagmites as a Wood Elf is to trees. These taller and aloof elves are thought by many to merely be rumor or speculation. Reports in the historical account describe them as moving through stone like water and seeming to emerge from the very walls to snatch up unsuspecting trespassers.   While not specifically regarded as violent, they are territorial. But knowing where their territory begins or ends is difficult for surface folk who think so two dimensionally. Best to walk with a light step where you might encounter them. Though not generally sinister, they are efficient. Survivors are liabilities, and they’d just as well no one return to tell the tale of encountering them.

Social Structure

Unknown. They must have some sort of societal structure and hierarchy. But they are so repelled by outsiders that very few have ever discovered what it is. Those who know are sworn to secrecy. Those who are not sworn are imprisoned or slain, or so it is thought.   However, an elf that truly wishes to follow their path may request audience with the Rockseers. If stone is truly in their heart, the Rockseers may allow them to join the community. Never to return to the life they once knew. Their past selves shed, so a stronger earthen self can emerge. Being Rockseer is as much about community and culture as it is about lineage. Though one might not be born a Rockseer, some elves are meant for it and may become Rockseer.
