Honey-Blooded
"I can imagine nothing worse than being thrown in the Pit with a Honey-Blood."In the first stages of Thrikk addiction, the senses of the user begin to corrupt. The addict gains the uncanny ability to sniff out blood, and a nigh-uncontrollable urge to drink it. The taste of fresh blood becomes that of sweetest bliss, and even dried blood smells of fulfilled dreams.
Causes
As the novelty of Thrikk's psychological effects wears off and it grows into an addiction, the symptoms start to manifest and only grow stronger with each dose taken. It is clear only in hindsight how taking the psychedelic produce of a blood-sucking psychic insect also grants their insatiable hunger.
Symptoms
Heightened senses are only the beginning of the condition, with a hunger for blood soon following. Thrikk addicts find themselves progressing along the path of raw meat, fresh animal blood, all the way to killing for a meal and even self-harm to get to more and more of what they perceive is their new purpose in life. This often leads to death at their own hands, or from others defending themselves from their animalistic attacks.
Treatment
"You will never understand, not when you haven't known the orgasmic pleasure of feeding a hunger that never goes away."By sheer happenstance when a severe Honey-Blooded encountered an abandoned and decaying Thuburro carcass and partook of the meal, they discovered their condition lessened, for a time. Since then, it is known that the thick blood of such creatures combats the uncontrollable urges for as long as it is regularly ingested, probably for the same reason that it is the Kreen's favourite. Though the hunger subsides, the senses of the addict remain, and in fact some still choose to partake of humanoid blood while fully aware of their actions. Due to the dangers inherent in hunting Thuburros however, the only ones able to benefit from the treatment are the immensely rich.
