The War of the Gods

The War of the God's was the shattering of the world. The gods fought against Myrkul; the past god of death, who sought to end all life on Treskri and to create a world of peace through death. The war shook the world to its core, destroying factions, wounding many mortals and gods alike. Fire and ash rained from the skies as more and more gods seemed to join in. Soon it was a brawl of gods, fighting and destroying.   Gods turned against each other attempting to claim more power or land, settling past disputes with violence's and destruction. Some gods went on a holly crusade to convert others into their faithful followers. This is lost in history to most and actively quelled by the gods themselves to keep their image clean or to keep mortals from fearing or hating them.   Soon the war was over who had the most influence and could control the population the best. Gods disregarded mortals and their desires or wants, pushing them to pick sides to survive. Eventually Myrkul fell, this caused the undead to roam the world and resulted in the war ending. For the dead were slowly killing their followers and the mortals, cutting the gods off of their powers. The gods feeling and seeing this decided to end the war, to seek retribution among the mortals for their blind ignorance and mindless destruction of the world.   The gods demanded the books to tell of a more divine history, one less of a squabble over the gods. The gods instructed their followers to preach and teach of how the gods killed death, saved man kind from his evil ways. How they purged the dead and created afterlife for their followers. However they've all but written out the acts of violence and greed some partook in. In order to keep mortals faithful and trusting in them.
