43 - Southward Sails

The crew sails south with unlikely allies, and Orceena learns more of her bloodline.

General Summary

The party convenes with Wolvara, chieftess of the Hellcaster tribe and Orceena's mother. She leads them through the darkened caverns to two large boats, explaining they will traverse down Sangrenon's major river towards Wozlathe, before turning eastwards through the waters beside the Tok'Saari Plains. The Titan Corps are given their own boat to commandeer and sail, despite no one knowing exactly how to steer a ship.
Kayin and Finn work to steer the vessel, and with a bit of effort they move to follow the orc tribe's ship through the mountains. By the evening they dock at a meadow rest stop beside the mountains. As the orcs set up camp for the evening Orceena moves to talk with her mother. Enthused, Wolvara takes Orceena to an isolated plateau. She displays her dark wings granted by her celestial blood, telling Orceena she too could tap into this power should be learn to speak with her ancestors. Orceena struggles and fails to do so, and says she doesn't want to have to accept 'the dark side' just to gain the same power. Wolvara explains that 'good and evil' are different for each person; although she, for example, possesses both celestial blood and infernal ties, she find a way to use them both to her benefit.
Edalweiss finds Wolvara and speaks with her. With their combined knowledge they glean that the southwestern wall is greatly damaged yet fortified with soldiers, and the southeastern wall is less damaged but also less guarded. They strike a deal; if the Titon Corps can aid the orc forces in entering the kingdom, Wolvara promises they will help the Corps escape after saving Edalweiss's children.
Looking for a meal outside of the less-than-impressive rations provided by the orcs, Orceena, River and Edalweiss decide to go hunting. While trying to bring back a giant lizard they are assaulted by a great number of reptilian beasts of tooth and claw. They succeed through great teamwork after a brutal battle. In storing the lizard bodies, Edalweiss remembers she still has the corpses of Valjorn and Obello in her bag. She pulls them out and lights their bodies on fire before returning back to the ship.
