44 - Allies, for Now

General Summary

The party continues their journey eastward, finally cresting past the waters of Wozlathe into the Tok'Saari plain. They fend of a flock of harpies and harvest their remains after the conflict. During an evening of rest, the orc chieftain Jal'Goros invites them into his tent for a discussion about the upcoming conflict. He explains that accepting the fiendish water was a necessary choice to defend his clan from the stronger tribes within the Wyvern's Spine Mountains. He does not regret his decision; Jal'Goros says he can feel a great conflict on the horizon, one of otherworldly influence, and it will take an immense amount of strength to survive the months to come. Edalweiss explains she wishes to save her children; Jal'Garos swears that if the party can create an opening for the orcs to enter the city, the orcs will hold the opening until the party escapes the city.   Celder speaks up, asking if he knows anything about the orc attack on the capital city Dalrun in the Kastell Kingdom. Jal'Goros responds saying he was there, as one of many orc tribes recruited for such an attack. The organizer of the attack, Skarr Vadu, said there was much riches to be gained from the invasion, and that he knew a way to get inside the kingdom walls. Skarr was true to his word and the attack was successful, but Jal'Goros pulled himself and his men away from the resulting conflict to cut their losses. Jal'Goros said he also recognized the sword upon Celder's back, and the general who once wielded it. Celder stormed out of the tent to get some air. Jal'Goros warned the party that there were forces watching over Celder, as he was a worthy warrior to gain favor of in the upcoming conflict. Celders voice that he hates orcs and all they've done, and that all this was a temporary alliance.   The next day the ships progress eastward. Traveling through the narrow passage between the waters of the Tok'Saari Plains and the Bloodlands was difficult, but with Kayin at the helm and the rest of the party manning the sails, the ship made it through the rapids mostly unharmed. They were stopped by another ship, who demanded some sort of pay to enter the Bloodlands. The party called his bluff, realizing the Hellcaster Tribe had already paid for their passage. As they land on the northern shores just below the Bloodlands, Kayin and Finn hunt underwater for a giant octopus and return to the shore with their dinner.
