Se04Ep09 - The Last of The Tomb

General Summary

Left to their own devices to find the second key, the doorkickers move deeper into the tomb.

Question

If you could go back and change one decision you made in the past, what would you change?

Miles would change his decsion to leave his tribe. He would chose to stay at his tribe   Out of all the decisions Lostin has made, he would change the one that lead to his brother's death. He had the chance to join his brother's crew but he and his brother wanted him to stay out of it so Lostin could help him if something went wrong. The problem was the crew left him to die and Lostin is sure if he had been there they both would have survived.   Seom doesn't regret much, but one thing he would change was making a bad impression on a lovely princess one time when he crashed a royal ball. He could have had a chance to sweep her off her feet and perhaps come into some gold for it. However, Seom got too drunk and in the end offended her so badly that he was thrown out on his head and beaten severely.   If Rodger could go back and change one decision he made in the past, he would take better care of his family. He'd be tempted to go after Acererak in his little boat and prevent him from flooding the world; but he managed to save his family even after that happened. However, he lost his daughter to the endless Blood War in the Abyss. Selfish as it is, in his heart of hearts he'd trade all those lives for that of his child.
If he'd done more to keep her away from demonic influences, his family might still be whole.   Ark really does wish he could have not allowed his family standing take away the one person he probably could have spent the rest of his life with. His childhood friend turned rival, Miss Starseed, saying her first name now making Ark feel sour now, would have been the one person he wanted to keep close to him despite both their families competing in the armaments industry. He might even think losing that relationship may have led to his turning to drink to forget.   Sambra: I would have kept in touch with my family and friends from my home town. It's been very difficult to create true friendships as an adventurer as I'm constantly on the move, and it having friends from my childhood would do well to ground me and make me a better person.

Synopsis

Heading into the soon to be dubbed "false tomb" the Doorkickers took their time checking out everything in the room. Nothing really of note was found save for the smoking urn in the center of the room. This smoking urn contained an Efreet. Prepped for battle Lostin asked, "Friend or Foe" and Rodger sarcastically shot, "I wish to create generational wealth for my family."   "First wish granteed," the Efreet shouted, "two left!. Now I've been locked up in here for a long time and got a plane to catch, so I'll give you gentelmen ten minutes."   A huddle formed and the men began to whisper to each other. "Fame? Wealth? Adoption?" There was another idea passed, returning things to their former glory, a future for Sanguera safe from the raging of the Blood War and free from the damage that Acererak had wrought. It was decided.
  • First wish (used): I wish to create generational wealth for my family.
  • Second wish: I wish that the land of Sangura is restored to its former state prior to the damage wrought on it by Acererak, now and forever.
  • Third wish: We wish that any portal from Carceri to Sangura be barred from entry on the Carceri side.
The Efreet granted both after the second was revised, as a Genie can not contradict one of their own wishes.   With that settled and the Efreet gone, the party resumed their search for the second key. Seeing as the doors in the room could only be open from other side, Sambra dug a tunnel by casting passwall twice. The tunnel opened to the middle of a stair case with six stairs, made of onyx, pink marble, lapis, black marble, yellow serpentine, and malachite from bottom to top. In the center sat the most revolting thing the party had seen in the tomb thus far. The second key. As everyone walked away from the key, Ark thought to dispel the enchantment on the key allowing Sambra to pick up the key with a mage hand and place it in the key hole.   After a half hour of playing with the key, the group turned to magic to solve their issue. Miles confirmend they had all they needed and sambra cast legend lore and was told a rhyme, "Insert the key and turn it right, not left, then right." Lostin turned the key three times to the right and the floor began to rise.   Before them they see a chest, containing gems, and several magic items; a long sword , a short sword, a battle axe, a spear, a ring, a rod with 3 tentecles, a white staff, a large book, a talisman, a shard of dull crystal, 6 scrolls, 3 huge gems (two green, one black) and atop the chest is a skull with two large rubies set into its eye sockets and 6 marquis cut diamonds set as its teeth.   Efforts to remove items with mage hand are block by and invisible door, spotted afterward by Rodger. The door is familiar, a door to a magnificent mansion. The gang cautiously enter and are greeted by none other than Acererak!   Acererak explains his reasons for what was done, as the party asks more and more questions, he answers more and more. The gang is informed that he never possesed Codex Incabulum, he became a lich to be able to cast the spell from Bowgentle's spell book, a spell that flooded the plains of Kaspin with concecrated waters, keeping out the fiends until the Codex Incabulum could be completed.
