The Wilderness
Since most of the trade, and other traffic, went from using the roads and the waterways to use airships, the wilderness has become an overgrown and dangerous place. Nature has reclaimed many of the layover villages inland, the small fishing villages along the coast, most of the roads, and even the forts that were abandoned since there no longer are any people to protect.
Walking, riding or moving by cart over land has gone from being relatively easy and safe to being treacherous and dangerous. The roads are no longer maintained, bridges have fallen into disrepair, old forts, villages and hamlets have been abandoned and taken over by nature, monsters or even ghosts. Rumors claim that going anywhere without the aid of an airship is certain death.
