Mind Flayers

Several decades after the formation of Sanroth as a nation under the First King, an empire of illithids attempted to invade Sanroth in an event known as the Incursion. They came from deep in the Underdark via gateways known as Incursion Points (such as the one near Keld) and managed to kill several of the First King's descendants who had attempted to stop the Incursion. Though poised to sweep across the land, the mind flayers were ultimately defeated by Sanroth's last hope, Queen Allana Rainhald, and the illithids were returned to the Underdark from which they came.
