Sleet Stave

Grown into the shape of a staff, this icicle only melts in the hottest fires. It is cold to the touch to anyone not attuned to it. You gain a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon, which otherwise counts as a quarterstaff (1d8).
The staff consists of 5 segments. When you hit with an attack using this magic quarterstaff you can choose to let a segment on the end of the staff shatter, dealing an additional 3d6 piercing damage. When the staff is reduced to 3 segments or less, it counts as a club (1d4).
As long as there is at least 1 segment of the staff remaining, it regains 1 new segment every 8 hours, growing it out of moisture in the air. If you shatter the last remaining segment of the quarterstaff it is destroyed.
