Amar Cosgrove the artificer

Amar Cosgrove, the Artificer Age: 32   Appearance: Amar has a wiry build, standing at a middling height. His deep-set hazel eyes are always curious, scanning surroundings for hidden details. He has a slightly aquiline nose, sun-kissed tan skin, and a head of tousled chestnut hair, usually dusted with particles of soot or metal from his constant tinkering. His hands, bearing slight burn marks and minor scars, are testament to his hands-on approach to understanding old world tech.   Personality: Amar possesses a blend of enthusiasm and introspection. While his eyes sparkle with curiosity, there's a reverence with which he approaches the relics of the past. Inclined to thoughtful silences, he's known to suddenly burst into energetic explanations about some component or mechanism. Though sociable enough, Amar's true passion lies in exploring the synergy between the archaic and the futuristic, often rendering him lost in thought.   Background: Ever since his youth, Amar Cosgrove was spellbound by old-world machinery. These relics, both primitive and ahead of their time, dotting the landscape, whispered tales of a past civilization that had achieved marvels in engineering. Despite the lost techniques and the enigmatic functionality of these machines, Amar was determined to bridge the chasm of lost knowledge.   He's embarked on countless expeditions, combing the countryside to document, study, and sometimes restore these archaic devices. The scale of some of these relics astounded him – vast networks of cogs and gears, entwined with now-defunct power sources. Yet the simple art of smelting metals to even begin recreating them was lost to the annals of time.   Skills and Abilities: Amar's understanding of the mechanical and arcane is unparalleled in the region. His natural aptitude for seeing patterns and his meticulous nature makes him an adept problem solver. Though the art of crafting these machines from scratch eludes him due to lost smelting techniques, he possesses an innate talent for refurbishing and even improvising with existing machinery to serve new purposes. His workshop is a mix of organized chaos, filled with artifacts of every size, half-built devices, and scribbled blueprints.   Relations: Amar has built a rapport with scholars like Bernadette, sharing the common quest for knowledge. He also collaborates with individuals like Bartholomew, son of Dave the Blacksmith, in attempts to decipher the mysteries of old-world metallurgy. His reverence for the past and hope for the future make him a well-respected figure in the community.   Current Endeavors: Amar continues his exploration of derelict machinery, aspiring to bridge the knowledge gap of their construction. With each discovery, he grows closer to unlocking the secrets of the old world, hoping to revive techniques and knowledge that could benefit the current age.   Personal Belief: Amar lives by the belief that understanding the past is crucial to shaping a better future. To him, the derelict machines are not just rusted relics but symbols of a lost golden age of innovation and progress. He hopes to kindle that same spirit in the present, propelling society forward through the synthesis of old wisdom and new insights.
