The Fading

Era beginning/end

A time when the immense power of the primordial elements was waning. Men grew in power, and the elemental races fell.

During the Fading, the remaining Gods on the material plane finished fracturing their own domains away from the earthly realm. The remaining elemental storms and physical manifestations of magic were fading.   The elemental cities that relied on the power of these remaining elemental pockets waned, and Men ousted the elemental peoples from their long-held thrones.   Cities of men began to spring up, and many epic battles were fought forming the groups that would come to rule the land.   The Elven homeland of Esnor was one of the few places left relatively untouched, as the Dragon Lord Bahamut chose to remain bound to the material plane, and offered his power and protection to the Elves.
