Nakhshi

Fighting with the strength of a nakhshi is something all zhurti warriors should aspire to - shattering shields, cracking skulls, tearing throats - ah, I could only dream of such power. The brains of a nakhshi? Well, not so much.
— Varthe Elishte, a saurian warrior of the Kalahri tribe.
Sometimes referred to by outsiders as "lizard ogres", nakhshi are a reptilian race native to the island of Divlas which likely relates to saurians in the same ways that goblinoids are distantly related to humanoids.   Ferociously strong and stupendously stupid, nakhshis are more or less regarded as dangerous wildlife among the Divlian tribes, and killing one is often a rite of adulthood for many of the more warlike tribes.   Some nakhshi such as Ves Blacktooth (pictured) do understand the use of tools and may even be spoken to and reasoned with, but such creatures are few and far between.

Culture

Nakhshis serve an interesting purpose to the southern Szuthethe tribe, where the beasts are often conditioned to view saurians as enemies or tormentors. The warriors then run out into the field to take on their opponents dressed in feathers and furs that conceal their reptilian nature while the formerly captive and conditioned nakhshis take out their anger on opposing tribal forces.
