Legend has it, over four thousand years ago, the wise elves of old made five great Guardians, Custodians of the five races. These were designed to protect these races, which the elves deemed lesser than themselves and in need of protection. The elves controlled these beings, and guided them to create an era of peace and safety in the world, unparalleled before or since that time. But it was not to be. The elves considered themselves above corruption, and in that thought, they were corrupt. In their pride, the High Elves tried to rule those they deemed lesser, and dominated them. The Humans, Dwarves, Goblins, and Hobbits rose as one in rebellion, and overthrew the oppressors. Corrupted by misuse and long war, these creatures disappeared forever, and the Elves were left without their defenses. United under the great king Saramoth, the armies of dwarves and men assaulted the Greenwood, stronghold of the High Elves. A horrific battle raged within the forest for 3 years, transforming it into a wasteland of dust and ash. In desperation, shame, and the last vestiges of pride, the High Elves released an apocalypse upon their forest, destroying the few unspoiled places, and all those that remained inside.
