Mendishleer

Few dare to brave the mountains of Mendishleer, but those who do are treated to a civilization unlike any other on Giellos. They are secluded, although they do welcome outsiders as long as they are peaceful. Most wandering tribes are composed of solely either Goliaths or Firbolgs, but other species that live there become quickly ingratiated into the different traditions, religions, and ways of life of their respective tribes. They most commonly pray to The Quintessant, a group of giant gods, but there are outliers who have their own unique religious affiliation. As hunter-gatherers, the tribes are an important part of their respective ecosystems. They have a connection to the plants and animals that very few outsiders understand, in which they eat their prey, but remain peaceful with the rest of the species. There is a strong "survival of the fittest" mentality in Mendishleer. There is a rumor that some tribes will leave their weaker children out for the wild animals, although this is widely regarded as untrue. Overall, Mendishleerians live off the land in peace. At the very least, anyone who is brave or stupid enough to wander into an unfamiliar tree- and snow-covered mountain range with the hopes of taking it over soon discover why nobody has yet conquored these seemingly primitive people. Whether it is from hunting large monsters, the harsh mountain landscape, the gods, the nature connection, or just generally being larger than everyone else, Mendishleerian warriors have a reputation for being fierce and formidable. Tribes rarely attack each other (although the Oomach Tribe has been gaining infamy recently for its bloody exploits), and although trials by combat sometimes settle things, they are held fairly and do not usually end in death.   Most Mendishleerians want to be left alone by The Giellan Union and any other form of government, but Prunt the Wanderer leads a government of sorts with other citizens who are respected, but have set off from their tribes for various reasons. They mainly settle inter-tribal disputes and bring Mendishleerian opinions to The Giellan Union. The one downside of not having their own full government is that other nations do not respect their diplomatic power, but Mendishleer is mostly doing fine without their help, at least according to those who live there.   With the recent boom in technological advancement, some tribes have been using mechanical wonders that has begun to upset the ecosystem. Some tribes have banned them entirely, and the number of disputes brought to Prunt recently about the change in the natural way of life has kept his hands full. Goods being shipped into Mendishleer have decreased because of the disgust, anger, and occasionally hostility with which many of the giant natives treat them.
