Otis Keifew

Otis Keifew was an astoundingly intelligent Gnome of Golryon, of the third generation since the gnomes came to the Bay of Evandyr. He was a magical Thaumatergist, loving the lower forms of magic, before in a fated journey to the East brought him to discover the Runes of Deceit and Compulsion. He brought these back to the Arcane Conservatory and quickly mastered them, becoming a powerful Illusionist and Enchanter. Over many years his exploits made him a famous Arcanist in Golryon.       Once in Dinlirys, he attempted to court a longtime friend and crush of his, a City Elven noblewoman, inevitably leading to a relationship.   At some point after this, as told by the paintings in his mansion, this relationship ended and he went on a journey of self discovery alone with a massive galley, manning all the oars with magical power as he sailed across the Dark Ocean/Sea of Zizyx.   According to his own story, this led him to Jhar'gorn, where he discovered ancient magics and began to understand the Stories of the Storyteller greatly, journeying through something called the Medicopia and acquiring great knowledge.   Coming back to Golryon to share his findings, the Conservatory mocked his delusions, Jhar'gorn was destroyed! The Themes were Ideas! After years of struggle to find his place in the world, Otis was again cast out, and struggled to find someone to believe his findings. Finding no one, he eventually met the Man Under The Library, who gave him knowledge and corrupted his mind with the power of Change and the like.   Going insane from this encounter and his failure to help the Conservatory, he began performing horrific transformation rituals on students, as well as imprisoning people in his mansion. This only got worse over time, until the Ember Spears, a mercenary group in Golryon, captured him and put an end to his maniacal machinations.   He is in a prison in Golryon, wearing anti-magic Control handcuffs and being quite silent... only whispering of the Man Under The Library.
