Flying Whale

Within the skies of Tempeste, whales fly around freely. These massive whales use gaseous sacs within them to lift them into the skies. Residents of Tempeste pay to use these whales as transports to and from the city, and merchants use these whales as cargo. Massive in size, these whales are usually around 50 feet long when they mature. They are regarded as majestic and are well protected as such, harming them in any form is frowned upon by the vast majority of any society that knows of their existence.

Conservation Status
Flying whales are very rarely seen outside the areas near Tempeste, therefore these whales are taken care of to extremity by their owners. Since these beasts only reproduce every several hundred years and are used as general beasts of burden, the residents of Tempeste pay their respects to the whales with minerals and jewels that are then put onto the beasts. Owners will take the beasts down to the waters below Tempeste to feed on fish every other day, ensuring their health as well as keeping the whales happy.
