The Thousand Year Dragon
A dragon of renown on the continent of Azeer, particularly in Dwarven culture. Many fallen Dwarven villages and even small cities claim to have been destroyed by the Thousand Year Dragon, and any time a story is told of the ferocious beast, it never ends well.
Summary
According to Dwarven legend, ever since the Dwarves inhabited the continent of Azeer, their society has been plagued by attacks of a ferocious and all-powerful dragon. This dragon is written to be massive in size, the length of a small hamlet. It has shiny dark grey scales, and massive spiraled horns. It's fangs could cut stone, and it's breathe could melt away steel.
Throughout Dwarven recorded history, the Thousand Year Dragon is mentioned many times as a being of great destruction for their society. Ask any dwarf about it, and he will likely have a great story to tell you over some ale.
Historical Basis
The Thousand Year Dragon is for the most part true. Many of the the tales of it's destruction however seem to be quite fabricated, dwarven tall tales you might say. The existence of the Thousand Year dragon can be believed to be true, as many travelers of other racial descent have even documented it's existence within writings and stories.
Cultural Reception
All cultures recognize the story of the Thousand Year Dragon, while some don't exactly believe it is real. Dwarves however believe in it whole-heartedly, and blame many blots in their history on it's wrath.
In Art
Within Dwarven Culture, often the Thousand Year Dragon will be drawn underneath their own gods, or local heroes. A sign that Dwarves will always get back up even with an ancient foe constantly at war with them.

4, written in a book of historic accounts, the Thousand Year Dragon was mentioned as a possible factor for the downfall of a nearby society.
