The Eight Crescendos

After the Battle of The Crescendos, or as it is more accurately described in Metramora, the "Slaughter of The Crescendos", the mahn of Planeros was understandably terrified. The Melodies are often distant and unknowable, so their reasoning and actions are difficult for mahn to understand completely. However, the story passed around Betelos is that Hapolentelorn told the residents of her realm that the Melodies had a specific reason to protect that landmark, and feel the same way about several other structures.

Summary

According to those who claimed to have spoken to Hapolentelorn on the subject, the castle known as The Crescendos was a building that meant a lot to the Melodies, but had no place in any of their designs. Hapolentelorn is said to have spoken of seven other objects of similar incredible value that are now collectively known as the Eight Crescendos.

Historical Basis

There is no historical basis or evidence that Hapolentelorn ever actually stated any of this, but it is generally considered fact within Betelos and several other Disignos.

Variations & Mutation

There is a great deal of debate over what the other seven objects and landmarks Hapolentelorn was referring to are and where they are located. Some believe all eight to be in Metramora, while others believe one is logically in each of the eight Disignos. Some claim she spoke of smaller objects, such as a harp and a golden horse, while others claim she spoke of eight buildings, similar to the one in Metramora. Still others believe that the number eight is incorrect entirely and that Hapolentelorn only spoke of eight objects, despite there actually being more.
