Personal history

Julian Lyon is a man. Julian Lyon is a woman. The difference? Pronunciation. Julian and his sister's name are spelled the same but she pronounces it Ju-lee-anne. When Julianne was "forcefully wooed" by an English officer, Julian killed the bastard. Unfortunately that made the Irishman a wanted man, headed for the gallows. His sister decided to doll the boy up to look like her since they were twins and leave the village for a time.

Julian, now disguised as Julianne, left Ireland and made it to Portsmouth, England, before his money ran out. He played a ruse on a passing seaman, and it backfired. Julian found himself paid a handsome sum to "make a man out of that boy of a boatswain" and met Erik of Iceland.

"Erik" discovered she wasn't a woman, and "Julianne" discovered he wasn't a man. Julian and Emma, as they let their secrets go, were quite taken with each other and had relations that night and into the wee hours of the morning. Unfortunately for the two of them, the Mary Rose's boatswain had "an attack of the conscience" and told a priest their actions.

They were married the next morning, on the 10th of July as Erik and Julianne. Unfortunately, the HMS Mary Rose was called to fight in the war against Italy, and sent to Boulogne-sur-Mer to participate in its siege.
