Sophus "Clever" Sergianus

The training, the marching, and the constant building of camps and other hard labors doesn’t suit you. You miss the gambling and other vices of the city. But your greed got the better of you one day when the boss realized just how much you’d been skimming. You saw your opportunity to escape unmolested when a new legion was raised in your province. You even gave the boss’ men the thumb as you marched out with a hundred others.   The first few months with the Legion was like digging pits in Tartarus. But eventually your century moved out and you came to an important realization. What your fellow country bumpkins don’t understand is that the Legion gives you the means to venture to distant civilizations, sack them, and take everything they own. Some day, when you’ve accumulated enough trinkets to buy a villa in Italia, you’ll slip away in the night and leave the rest of these fools to the Fates.
