The Red Pool, Finale
Session played on April 2, 2021
Location: Torath-Ka (The Savage Lands)
During some moments, it seemed good fortune was not on the surviving crew members' side.
However, the battle did eventually turn in their favor.
After the rest of the Red Men natives had been slain, the shaman ran off and disappeared into the thick jungle.
The five survivors the savages were going to throw into the red pool were all set free.
Each was a typical sailor who had recently joined the Rebecca's crew after the ship had left Brigandy Bay. Zatara and the others knew each of the crew members well enough since they had spent some time together on the ship before its tragic demise.
The five surviving crew members were:
John Smith, an honest, 24-year old Englishman from Earth, circa 1673.
Mongrel, a kehana who was curious about Earthmen and their strange ways.
Senor Miguel Figuroa, a Spaniard from Earth, circa 1547. He was 50+ years old and a pirate long ago. He wasn't bad by nature but followed most any orders without question.
Caras and Cais Cath were two proud masaquani twins who protected each other first and followed orders second.
All five were grateful towards their saviors and promised to help repair the skiff Zatara and the others had found along the beach to the southwest.

During the next several days, everyone but Ho did their part to repair the skiff's broken hull.
Ho, who suffered broken bones and cracked ribs from fighting the savage Red Men, wasn't in any condition to help. As a matter of fact, his condition worsened even after their new ship, christened Katie's Destiny, had set sail.
Ackbarani, a kraken who had some skills as a ship's assistant surgeon, could only do so much to help Ho. The grael had suffered some internal injuries that were not healing properly. Ackbarani advised Zatara, who was asked to be the survivor's new captain, to find a nearby port town where they could get medical supplies to help the badly wounded grael.
Also, their new ship had only about eight days of water and food. They were fortunate enough to have gathered as much from the wreck of the Rebecca, but the supplies would not last long.
Captain Zatara Smith hoped they could continue on their original destination, to the port city of Kiera in the Kieran Empire. They would surely be able to find more supplies there. But he wasn't certain if Ho would survive the voyage that could take as much several more days, according to the ship's navigator Cancerius. And that's if they were lucky enough to not run into foul weather!
Cancerius made a suggestion to Captain Smith. They could stop by Vittoria.
Cancerius showed the captain his map of Caribdus. Vittoria was only three days east along the coast of Torath-Ka.
The scurillian navigator said a daring English explorer named Angus McBryde was sent to establish a new colony on the far eastern tip of Torath-Ka for the British East India Company. Unfortunately, he had not been heard from since and attempts to
find his settlement has so far failed.
Perhaps, Cancerius said, Angus's colony may have supplies he may be willing to share with their crew. Or, Ackbarani, who had skills in herbalism could find some native herbs that could help the injured grael recover quicker.
Captain Smith considered Cancerius's words.
He asked his navigator to give him time to consider his options.
