The Red Pool, Part 1

Session played on April 1, 2021

Location: Torath-Ka (The Savage Lands)



Zatara's plan was simple enough.
Ackbarani and Zatara would both focus their attacks on the shaman while Ho rushed to engage the Red Men natives in close combat.
However, the battle did not turn out as easily as the three had imagined.
Even, to their surprise, when they were joined by the Rebecca's surviving navigator, a scullirian named Cancerius, the encounter was proving to be difficult and quite possibly deadly.
The shaman was clearly not going to be defeated so easily. He kept hurling what seemed like an unlimited surplus of deadly magical bolts that struck like a powerful hammer with each strike.

After several exchanges of attacks with blades, Ho's maul, and shots fired from flintlocks, only three of eight savages had been slain.
Ho, having found himself surrounded by five of the brutes had sustained grievous wounds. Another good hit and the grael could be defeated, despite his thick blubber for protection. Luckily Zatara, Ackbarani, and Cancerius had not sustained any injury. At least, for the moment.
Zatara considered freeing the prisoners to help with the fight, but he wasn't sure how helpful they could be. Also, it seemed only the five survivors remained of the twenty crew members. Even Captain Abraham didn't seem to have survived the Red Men's attack.
Had the captain been thrown into the acidic pool? Zatara didn't know. What he did know was that they still had five savages to fight.
Perhaps if they were able to incapacitate the shaman, they could turn the battle in their favor. Perhaps the remainder of the savages would leave once their leader was defeated.
