S6. Dearly Departed

General Summary

Marpenoth 14 - 15
Ninris was laid to rest on a small raft down the river this morning after breakfast.. It was a short ceremony but lovely. That Tabaxi really caught me off guard as he seems to know the same fey music as some of the more playful spirits in the wood. It was much different hearing it in person... much stronger and alluring. I see now how some spirits, dryads or nymphs maybe, could draw people off into the wilds. Depot and Jareth seemed to appreciate it as well.
They stopped and shopped at a couple places and inquired about some dwarves out hunting treasure that apparently they were supposed to warn about the dragon. I waited outside with Depot trying to keep an eye on him mostly as the simpleton seems to have a tenancy to claim anything he takes a liking to.
Jareth has been impacted by Ninris' passing it seems and wore a mask of some sort today. I was pleasantly surprised to see him take an interest in herbalism. That is so relaxing for me, I hope it helps him the same.
The group did decide to go get the items from the hide out I was kept in. They didn't confront the evil in that canyon. That was disappointing. They seemed more concerned with goods and selling them to the village folks. Finding the rightful owners would be pretty difficult I guess. There was some decent stuff and particularly nice wine down there. After some time though we finally managed to get them set off toward this mine they are looking for.
Arriving there the next morning, it turned out to be an old temple of some sort? Two dwarves, perhaps the ones they were trying to warn, were arguing outside about something inside attacking them. They offered to trade a pair of nice set of sending stones if we handled it.
Inside we certainly did find what attacked them. It was a giant jelly! The thing nearly got Jareth in a single blow. Sir Nesbit seemed to call on the stars. He seems to be a holy man of some sort. Bright song is definitely more that your average performer, though seems unsure what magic to call forth first yet. I think he is honing his craft.
Oh and I forgot! Torgan has a spirit companion also! It must have been one of the ones humming from his bag the day before. I showed him a couple of them before they sold the rest of the gems. I wonder if he called it out of one of those? Either way I'm excited to see more of its temperament.
Anyway, we found a compartment in a pillar with some dwarf skulls when I pulled a lever poorly hidden under the alter. Jareth was pretty startled as they spilled out. I don't think he realized at first what he had found with the light playing tricks?
Bright Song just caught the dwarves attention and gave a have hearted attempt at telling them to stay out. Here they come now, their cowardly greed pulling them in. I'll show them the burn on my arm here to hold them off. "Yep there was a" *FFFFWWWOOOPTTH" "Oh no, another one! Stay back you two, those things almost killed the monk with us and there must be more than one!"
