Darina was the highest ranking member of the Talaman royal family to survive the Swynfaredian conquest of Talama. She was the youngest daughter of King Leonid Deorac II.
She had an illicit affair with one of her father's knights and was trying to find a way to weasel out of an arranged marriage when the Swynfaredians invaded. With the help of her lover, she escaped into the Border Baronies Region along with many lowborn refugees from Talama. They and occupied and resettled the fallow fields of the unpopulated realm known as the "Barony of Nothing".
Now free to marry her true love, they declared themselves Baron and Baroness and rechristened "the Barony of the Nothing" "the Barony of Love." She ruled wisely and justly along with her husband but there were less and wise and just than they and the realm fell into decay and was conquered by orcs who held onto the land for roughly two years until a joint effort by Meckelorn and Stahlheim cleared out the orcs and then ceed the territory to the newly formed Barony of Bats.
