Equestrian Days

Horsemanship is big in the culture of the Kantoca, both for commerce and war.   The Equestrian Days are a three to five day festival held all around the Kingdom of Kantoc in the spring.   Local lords have some discretion as to when to celebrate the Equestrian Days but they usually start or end on the Spring Stellar Day which would be the 1st day of the Month of Verdance and the 11th day of the Month of Korus.   Korus, as the god of horses is given lots of praise and honor.  The Kantoca want to keep Korus happy so he can bless the foals born in the next year and ensure Kantoc's horses remain healthy and strong.   There are also horsemanship related events ranging from polo, to jousts, to races, and show stunts.   Horse breeders frequently have shows to try to win ribbons for showing off the best young stallions or mares both for bragging rights among their fellow horse breeders and to try to win the patronage of wealthy nobles wanting the finest steeds.   Also there is much literal horse traders as this is viewed as an auspicious time for horse breeders to trade stock to maintain genetic diversity amongst their steeds.
