RPG mechanics for dragons
Dragons all have a base minimum for every attribute determined by their age category. Dragons can improve their attributes with freebie points up to three points higher than their minimum. Dragons can use their freebie points to improve their Willpower up to 10.
Dragons can use their freebie points for Attributes, Abilities, spells, or special abilities. They use a different freebie point chart than
humanoid characters.
Virtually all dragons max out their Alertness trait. Most dragons max out Athletics and Brawl abilities. Most dragons invest heavily in Subterfuge, Empathy and Survival. Beyond these commonalities, dragons have diverse interests and focus on abilities towards their interests.
Dragons can soak lethal and aggravated damage with their full Stamina rating. Any dragon that used freebie points to buy one or more additional dots of armor (most of them) count as hard armor targets.
Dragons claws inflict strength +1 damage. Dragon fangs inflict strength +2 damage. Dragons tails inflict Strength +3 bashing damage.
Dragon breath weapons inflict their Stamina rating in damage. Dragons cannot use their breath weapon more often than once every five rounds.
Dragons do not cast spells in the same way other mortal characters do. All spells, regardless of the school of origin use their Arcane Attribute as the dice pool to be rolled. A dragon's quintessence pool is equal to his Arcane Attribute multiplied by his or her Willpower. Dragons recover their full quintessence pool whenever they get a full night's (or day's) rest. Dragons can buy spells in any order without prerequisites but they cannot cast spells of a level higher than their Arcane Attribute minus 2.
