Lycanthrope Genetics

[ coat color genetics ]     [ base coat ]     [ pigment types]   [ three loci determine base coat color]   By default black is the base coat Black layers over all other colors Black is diluted by the ‘D’ gene and the ‘ B ‘ gene   Augmented by later genes K indicates a black or black-patterned coat   K is augmented by [ brindle ] [ flashpoint ] [ mask] [cape] -> kbr, kf, kem, kca   KK is a solid black coat as is solo K with any other following ( ex: Kkf - black coat base, carrying flashpoint expression)   k allows for coat base to be another color   B indicates no K-locus dilution; b indicates dilution, coat becomes brown [ bb ]   D indicates no dual KB locus dilution; d indicates dual-locus dilution, coat becomes isabella [ dd ]   Abberant effects on the genes include a propensity to pass on mutations such as two-maw syndrome, multiple limbs, inverse organs.    Lycanthropy manifests in different fashion among the species-- Yaradhi become bark-bristling creatures with manes of leaves, Alvar maintain an unnatural grace, Orsa are stout and broadly built with massive forepaws. They display throwbacks to what they were before.

Manifestation

Manifests in layers beginning on the base coat color and working upwards, akin to laying layers on a painting.   Mutations alter the entire body regardless of base genetics, and can create some interesting color combinations if the mutations are simply those which alter the coat.    Those mutations which are the result of abberant interference tend to have a dull tint to them, lacking the color or sheen of other mutations, indicating the odd nature of their origin.

Localization

Interestingly, Lycanthropes who manifest their condition closer to the Abberation Zone begin to exhibit other side effects and appearance changes.   Observed changes include:   An open maw full of teeth nesting in the space beneath a scar   A set of monstrous teeth, horns, back spines, and a thick Whiplike tail   Bioluminescent blood and saliva   Extra limbs (arms)   Wings entirely comprised of bone and sinew that are somehow able to facilitate flight
